The Labour Code prescribes that the employees shall be invested with the right to participate in management processes. This right is exercised via the activities of the Works Council.
The members of the Works Council are elected in a secret ballot collectively by the employees. The trade unions or any of the employees could recommend a candidate. The representation ratio of the trade unions depends on their successful participation in the Works Council elections.
The number of members elected to the Works Council is prescribed by law: depending on the staff number of the given business unit, there should be 3 members elected for units with 50-100 employees and 5 members for 100-300 persons. The members then elect a chairperson for themselves in a secret ballot.
The election at E.ON Földgáz Trade Zrt was held on 26th September, 2007. The composition of the Works Council:
