Hajdúszoboszló is a major cenere for the natural gas industry in Hungary. Earlier, in the vicinity of the city, a significant natural gas field was discovered, where now E.ON Földgáz operates one of the largest Hungarian underground natural gas storage facilities.
In 1996, a then-modern, wooden playground with folk patterns was built in the centre of the city, but by the passage of time, it became worn out and also failed to meet the EU-requirements.
Owing to the contribution by E.ON Földgáz, the playground was renovated at the beginning of 2008, and since 30th May it has been used by the youngest residents of the city.
